I met the ukulele when I was in junior high school.
It all started when my younger sister, who was in elementary school, asked her parents for a guitar. "Ukulele" was the one that I finally got by collecting the "blue chips" that I got when I shopped at a nearby supermarket.
"This is different from a guitar!"
What I thought was to hide my sister who wouldn't touch the ukulele at all. I started playing with that ukulele.
I borrowed a "Bucky Shirakata Ukulele Textbook" from the library and learned the code.
I also learned that I could play melodies, and I was enthusiastic about playing the melody I heard and the melody I knew with the ukulele.
Everything I learned back then was useful when I got the guitar later.
The song played on the day I bought the guitar. How happy I was!
After that, I focused on the guitar, but sometimes I remember touching the ukulele.
It feels like my starting point.
Then I became interested in old European music and played the lute, but while I was studying it, I came across an instrument called "Renaissance Guitar", which was exactly the ancestor of the ukulele.
There are many ukulele players in the streets, but I think I'm the only one with a historical range. I'm a little proud.
Is there anything else? I want to be friends if I'm there.
